I thought I´d just make a little update, since I have been silent for quite a while. I have been struggling with injuries for the bigger part of 3 months now. My latest was a couple of weeks ago when an old shoulder injury reared it´s ugly head again and my should got dislocated. To say that it hurt was an understatement, and I still can´t fully move it or dress myself without being in pain. So because of these things my training has been temporarily suspended.

BUT! I just wanted to say that have NOT put on any weight since I did the whole 2 month training up to and the running of the half marathon in february-march-april. And here is a little current picture, just to prove it.

PS. note the weights in the background. Never out of sight, therefor never out of mind ;)

Day 40 of my 72 days challenge to run a half-marathon:

I took the day off, hoping it would replenish my energy supply and make me feel a little better, but it didn’t help at all.

Day 41 of my 72 days challenge to run a half-marathon:

I went to the gym with the intention to get on the elliptical and burn as many calories as I was supposed to run off. But I only got to 300 (not bad for being sick, imho) and then I felt horrible and weak after.

Day 42 of my 72 days challenge to run a half-marathon:

I was supposed to have the day off anyways, so I took it. My knees were achy and sore, and the same with other joints as well. Was feeling very arthritic and sorry for myself :/

Day 43 of my 72 days challenge to run a half-marathon (Today):

I have decided to take today off as well, since I am feeling only a little better. Hopefully, since I am entering the last month of my challenge, I will be back on track tomorrow. And that my joint issues won’t bug me anymore. Tomorrow is 16 km day so I am really resting up today. 16 km will be the longest distance I have run yet.

Day 23 of my 72 days to run a half-marathon:

Todays run was horrible. I hurt all over and I think I may have pulled a muscle in my shoulder. I also ate too many carbs early in the day, and I felt them threatening to repeat on me.

All things considered I think I may have given myself a very small amount of time to complete this challenge. Less than three months is pretty hardcore. My feet are blistering and falling apart, my hamstrings are constantly burning and I feel like I am more often sweaty than not. But I am NOT giving up!!!

Day 19 of my 72 day challenge to run a half-marathon:

Ran my 8 km today, but I will Pay for it tomorrow. Sore all over from weights yesterday.

Thursday is also funk class day, so I did a 55 min funk class with my friends after running.

Yoga 60 mins

+

strength exercises for my knee.

My knee seems to be ok for now, but I don’t think it’ll be a problem that will go away until I cut back on running full time. Which I am NOT going to be doing.

No training today. My knee is still hurting, and I might have gotten runner’s knee since I tried to amp up my running for the half-marathon…

We’ll have to see tomorrow, but I am NOT HAPPY!

Day 7 of my 72 days to run a half-marathon:

I took today off, not quite sure whether my foot would get worse or not if I ran today. So I decided to take it easy instead. Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment, and after that I’ll try it out and go soft.

Since last sunday I have run over 30 km, and since this is the first week in my program I am sure that I plenty.

Next weeks goal, to either match 30 km or more.

I used to do gymnastics, and as any good gymnast I have plenty of war wounds. One of them is a sore ankle after it poped out of it’s socket. It was horrendous to look at, just hanging and dangling there. After that, I think I started walking and running with my foot slightly turned inwards as too “protect” my foot while it hurt.

Things like that are never a good idea, because it gives you horrible habits and can, like I have seen, give you problems in later life.

I could see while running on the treadmill on wednesday (there is a mirror infront of the treadmill), that I seem to slightly turn my foot inwards while taking a step. This might not seem like much, but imagine walking on it like that all day, every day. Or running 6-7 km on it like that. It can’t be good.

Next time I go for a run, I think I might have to tape it and force it to stay straight. And then we’ll see if that helps.

Taking a running break today. When I woke up I could feel I had some definite tension in my achilles, and when I got up to walk on it I could feel it tensing up and clicking. Sounds weird, I know…

So I’ll keep it going with 50 mins of yoga instead, and pick the running back up again tomorrow.
